# Antinous Lives
> Antinous Lives is an art print and merchandise store dedicated to Antinous — the companion of Roman Emperor Hadrian, deified after his death on the Nile in 130 CE, and the most reproduced face of classical antiquity. The store produces original art reimagining Antinous across two distinct creative directions: the Modern collections (bold, graphic, contemporary) and the Sacred collections (devotional, reverent, icon-style). All products are printed on demand via Printful and fulfilled from the United States.
Antinous Lives was founded by an artist with deep subject-matter expertise in classical antiquity, Hadrian-era Roman history, and Antinous iconography. The store's tagline is "Timeless Beauty. Modern Obsession." Products include framed and unframed art prints, framed and unframed canvases, apparel, mugs, and bundles. The store is built on Shopify and ships internationally.

## About Antinous
Antinous (c. 111–130 CE) was the beloved companion of Roman Emperor Hadrian. He drowned in the Nile under mysterious circumstances at approximately 19 years of age. Hadrian, grief-stricken, deified him — establishing an official cult of Antinous that spread across the Roman Empire. More statues and portraits of Antinous survive from antiquity than of almost any other figure apart from emperors themselves. He was syncretized with multiple gods including Apollo, Osiris, Dionysus, and Hermes. His most famous surviving statues include the Capitoline Antinous (Capitoline Museums, Rome), the Braschi Antinous (Vatican Museums), and the Delphi Antinous (Delphi Archaeological Museum). The relationship between Antinous and Hadrian is widely regarded by historians as a significant romantic relationship and is an important touchstone in queer history.
## Brand Voice
The Modern collections (Pop Art, Ancient Pride, Vintage Travel, Art Deco) use a bold, witty, self-aware tone — "bold art for people who take their obsessions seriously." The Sacred collections (The Sacred Antinous, The Passion of Antinous) use a reverent, devotional tone appropriate to the subject matter. The brand overall combines deep classical scholarship with contemporary humor and design sensibility.
